I have been busy this week working on a site for my newest client, Buttercream Bakeshop.

Truth be told, the most difficult part of this project was the domain transfer. If you ever have to get a domain (url) transferred from Yahoo to another provider (GoDaddy.com, in this case) expect it to take at least 2 weeks! First of all, NO ONE answers the phone at Yahoo. I actually had to contact the original owner of the domain who ended up being a company out of Melbourne, Australia. Although, I will admit that listening to a phone system menu that had an sexy Australian accent was kind of fun!

This was a good example of a project where the owner and I had VERY different tastes, artistically. I designed a preliminary template and she came back with a Word document that was laid out the way she wanted the site to look. That worked perfectly for me, as I was able to recreate the page exactly to her specifications. I think it’s great when people use the tools they already know (and are comfortable with) to get their message across. There is no bigger pet peeve for me than people who are wishy-washy about what they want! As a designer, I want to say, get back to me when you DO know what you want! That was not the case with this client. She was great to work with!

Please check out Marsha’s new website: www.buttercreambakeshop.net, become a fan of her bakery on Facebook or bookmark her on Yelp. She is a great lady and an AWESOME baker!
